Sometimes you – or your clients – just don’t need a whole website.

Maybe there simply wouldn’t be enough content to publish on that website.

Or maybe the client isn’t very keen on updating the site after it goes live initially.

Or maybe – the simplest of cases – they just need a basic business-card website.

Those are very common scenarios, actually. Not everyone has to be ready to dive into the world of online publishing head first. Some just want to start small, with a quality online presence that’s modern and does its job well, but is not overblown.

This is where single-page websites come into play.

A quality such site needs to tick a couple of checkboxes:

  • It needs to provide a lot of white space and good content separation.

  • It needs to be pleasing to the eye.

  • It needs to scroll well.

  • It needs to deliver basic functionality – like contact forms.

  • It needs to be fast and accessible.

All of the above make me quite excited reviewing a new presentation page called Rubik – a one-page website that promises to deliver in all of the areas mentioned above. Let’s see.

What is Rubik?

Rubik is a Bootstrap-made presentation page built by Creative Tim. In short, it’s a single-page website template consisting of various elements that let you create a nice-looking page for your business (or your client’s business).

The template is optimized to work with an agency page, a company page, a startup, or a portfolio (e.g. for photographers, designers, etc.).

Rubik is built on Twitter Bootstrap, which means that it’s optimized for performance and gives you a familiar environment to work with. What this means in practice is that you don’t have to wonder how to do this or that, but can jump in right away and get your job done quickly.

The Rubik Builder

On top of that, there’s also the custom Rubik Builder page that comes with every download of the main Rubik package. With that builder, you can adjust the sections on the page and the individual settings of each section through a handy visual interface. So you don’t even have to get your hands dirty in the source code.

Also here you could find a video tutorial on how to use it.

The design

Rubik provides a really stylish design. The team at Creative Tim points out that every component has been created after researching what makes for a great presentation page. So in the end, you get only the things that are proven to perform on such pages, and look very nice at the same time.

Moreover, the design is responsive, and behaves well on mobile. The design style used in Rubik is a form of flat design, with a couple of parallax scrolling effects for added visual flare.

There are 4 different demo pages to kick-start your work: Agency, Company, Startup, Portfolio.

Each is slightly different and gives you a good overview of the possibilities and the directions you can take in your work.

The price

There are two options:

  • Personal license – allowing you to create a single website for yourself or your client; $19.
